Progress update 23/03/2012

After a very busy few months, the special edition is finished! We’ve written our editorial and nine papers have been accepted for publication. The papers cover sports from golf to track cycling and there are a interesting applications of a number of different modelling techniques. The edition is due to be published in June this year.

Progress update 02/06/2011

Myself and Simon are delighted to report very good progress with the special edition on ‘Predictive Modelling in Sport’. Currently we have 10 prestigious lead authors who have agreed to submit manuscripts. These authors are all affiliated to institutions with strong reputations and track records for research in Sports Engineering and Technology. The proposed papers also cover a wide scope across the theme, including models which can be used to predict soccer ball trajectories, skier trajectories from jumps, track cycling performance and golf shots amongst others.

If you would like to submit a paper please contact either myself or Simon. Alternatively feel free to submit a manuscript to the journal stating your intention to be included in the special edition in the covering letter.

Introduction

Dr Tom Allen and Dr Simon Choppin were personally invited to act as guest editors for a special edition of the Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology. After assessing different options ‘Predictive Modelling  in Sport’ was set as the theme. The abstract below provides details of the types of papers we are looking for. Anyone wishing to submit a paper should visit the Journal’s website or contact myself and Simon directly for informal enquiries.
